What is a PIB?
PIB (Pemberitahuan Impor Barang) is the customs declaration required to bring goods into Indonesia. It records the imported goods — origin, value, HS code, and duty calculation — and is the basis for import duty assessment by the Directorate General of Customs and Excise (DJBC). Since digitization, the PIB is filed online through the CEISA system.
PIB applies to imports, while exports use PEB. The two have different workflows and documents.
Who must file a PIB?
Importers must file a PIB for every import shipment entering Indonesia's customs territory. Importers can file themselves or authorize a PPJK (customs service provider) to prepare and submit it on their behalf.
Before importing, make sure your legal status is complete: NIB, NPWP, and an import identification number (API).

What is the difference between PIB and PEB?+
PIB is the import declaration for bringing goods into Indonesia, while PEB is the export declaration for sending goods abroad. Both are filed via CEISA but have different documents and workflows.
Can I file a PIB myself without a PPJK?+
Yes. Importers are entitled to file a PIB themselves via CEISA, provided they understand HS codes, duty calculations, and the filing workflow. Many importers use a PPJK for accuracy and speed.
What is the Aju number?+
The Aju number is the filing number issued by CEISA when a PIB is accepted by DJBC. It marks that your document has entered the customs processing queue.
What documents are needed for a PIB?+
Generally a commercial invoice, packing list, bill of lading/airway bill, and any Lartas permit when the goods fall into a restricted category.
Can a PIB be filed faster with software?+
Yes. Software such as CEISA AI can draft a PIB from an invoice, validate HS codes, and prepare filing data — speeding up input and reducing manual errors.
Automate your PIB with CEISA AI
Retyping invoices into a PIB is slow and error-prone. CEISA AI reads commercial documents, drafts your PIB, validates HS codes, and prepares filing data for CEISA 4.0 — your team just reviews and submits.
- ✓Automatic PIB drafts from invoices and commercial documents
- ✓HS code validation and Lartas checks
- ✓Filing data ready for CEISA 4.0
